Progress On Site, Impact Beyond It
Construction is now underway at Citify’s The Buckingham development in Adelaide, marking an important milestone for the project and for Citify’s partnership with Homes for Homes.
Located in close distance to the CBD, The Buckingham blends modernity with a rich Adelaide history, retaining the facade of the iconic Buckingham Arms hotel while delivering new residences behind it. It’s a project that reflects Citify’s focus on thoughtful development, bringing together heritage, design and community connection in a growing part of the city.
That same focus on community is what makes Citify’s partnership with Homes for Homes so important. At a time when 9% of all households in South Australia are experiencing poverty and more than 7,400 people are experiencing homelessness in South Australia (Wyatt Trust 2025) the property sector has an important role to play in helping respond to the need for more social and affordable housing.
For Citify, partnering with Homes for Homes is an opportunity to ensure the impact of The Buckingham extends beyond the homes being built on site. It is a practical way to align development with long-term community benefit, helping generate funding that will support housing projects for people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation in South Australia.
“The Buckingham is a project that has always been about more than buildings. It is about respecting local history, contributing to the community and creating places where people can feel connected. Partnering with Homes for Homes allows us to extend that commitment beyond the development itself and help support housing outcomes for future people who need them most in South Australia.”
Joel Weston Wilkinson, Founder, Citify
Funds raised in South Australia through Homes for Homes stay in South Australia, where they are pooled and granted to community housing providers delivering social and affordable housing. To date, Homes for Homes has granted $300,000 to projects in South Australia and close to $3 million to 28 projects across the country. Nationally, these projects provide housing for more than 400 people.
The commencement of works at The Buckingham signals an exciting next chapter for the development and a strong example of the positive momentum that can build when property leaders choose to connect housing delivery with broader social impact. Homes for Homes is excited to celebrate this milestone with Citify and looks forward to following The Buckingham as it continues to take shape.
