Funds to provide a safe haven in the City of Casey

Women and children escaping family and domestic violence are the focus of new funding that will provide long-term stable housing in the City of Casey.

On Tuesday 24 March 2026, Homes for Homes proudly presented a cheque for $100,000 in grant funding to the Victorian Homeless Fund, made possible by the Balcon Group.

The $100,000 will go towards increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in the City of Casey. The funds were granted to the Victorian Homeless Fund as part of Homes for Homes’ eighth grant round – a dedicated City of Casey grant round.

Homelessness is one of the biggest social issues we face, showing no signs of slowing down. Every night 122,494 people are experiencing homelessness in Australia, while another 1.5 million live in serious housing stress. 76.2% of residents in the City of Casey identified housing affordability and homelessness as an issue in the community and 34.3% identified it as an issue for themselves*.

Homes for Homes spokesperson Antonia Froutzis said: “This is ultimately about partnership. Working with developers allows us to embed giving into the system – creating sustained, measurable outcomes over time. It means every home can be part of the solution, contributing to safe, secure and affordable housing from the moment it’s built.”

One such partner is the Balcon Group. Balcon Group’s Jason Shaw said: “The industry has an obligation to be a part of the solution. Partnering with Homes for Homes means funds go towards delivering real, lasting outcomes where they matter most.”

Thanks to the ongoing partnership with Balcon Group, Homes for Homes has now granted $200,000 towards community housing projects in the City of Casey. $100,000 was granted in June 2023 to Kids Under Cover.

The Victorian Homeless Fund will use the $100,000 towards building a family home at Orana, Balcon Group’s masterplanned community in Clyde North. Once the house has been completed, the Women’s Property Initiative will take over management of the house on a long-term basis at an affordable rate and provide people with vital access to specialist assistance to help with addressing and managing the challenges in their lives.
