Grant Announcement: Two Forces Unite to Tackle Housing Crisis

We’re celebrating a decade of impact with the launch of our 10th grant round, this time joined by philanthropic partner Danks Trust to double the funding power available for social and affordable housing projects.

This round will see a grant pool of $420,000 made available to support community housing providers and organisations in the City of Yarra, Victoria and New South Wales. The funding will help deliver homes for people facing acute housing need, such as vulnerable women and children, at-risk youth, people living with disability, and older Australians.

This milestone marks ten years of Homes for Homes’ innovative funding model, which turns property sales into bricks and mortar change. With co-funding from Danks Trust, even more Australians will soon gain access to safe, secure and stable homes.

“A charitable trust established in 1928 to provide ‘relief of poverty’, the Danks Trust is delighted to partner with Homes for Homes to co-fund housing projects. By joining forces Danks Trust funding will be distributed, via Homes for Homes’ independent housing grants process, to specialist housing providers to deliver social and affordable housing projects that are ready to go. By working together, more people who are in need, will be in housing sooner.” said Andrew Danks, Trustee, Danks Trust

Since 2015, we’ve has channeled close to $3 million into 28 housing projects nationwide, supporting housing outcomes for more than 400 people. Our independent advisory process ensures funds are directed where the need is greatest and money raised moves quickly into tangible housing outcomes. Operating under a Housing First philosophy, Homes for Homes believes that providing secure and affordable housing is the foundation for lasting systemic change. This approach not only gives people a roof over their heads, but also opens pathways to education, employment and wellbeing.

As co-funders of Round 10, Danks Trust joins a coalition of supporters helping to expand impact. We also acknowledge the valued contributions of Piccolo House and PEXA, whose support for Homes for Homes has helped make this milestone possible, building the pipeline that turns property sales into homes for people who need them.

In our 10th year we also welcome opportunities to collaborate with other philanthropic organisations who share our vision for a future without homelessness.

“Housing creates transformational change. Over the last 10 years, Homes for Homes has unlocked vital funds to move projects forward now, not later — ensuring more Australians gain access to safe and secure housing. Australia is in the depths of a housing crisis and homelessness remains one of the most critical social issues we face. With the support of Danks Trust, this 10th grant round is another powerful step toward ending homelessness,” said Steven Persson, Chief Executive Officer, Homes for Homes.

Grants are now open for community housing providers and other organisations delivering social and affordable housing. Applications will be assessed through our independent grants process to ensure funds are distributed where they will have the most impact.
