Development Victoria donates $67,000 to Homes for Homes

Development Victoria has donated $67,000 to Homes for Homes to increase the supply of social and affordable housing in Victoria.

The donation was presented to Homes for Homes’ National Partnerships Manager Sarah Witty by Development Victoria’s Group Head Property Penny Forrest at the Development Victoria office.

This donation is part of an ongoing partnership between Homes for Homes and Development Victoria’s Taylors Quarter residential development in Taylors Lakes. In 2019 the entire Taylors Quarter development was registered with Homes for Homes, and for each land sale in Taylors Quarter, Development Victoria donated 0.1% the sales price of the land to Homes for Homes.

Sales of the land sold out in record time, with many buyers opting to keep their properties registered with Homes for Homes. Future sales for each of the participating lots will see additional contributions made to Homes for Homes.

Donations from Development Victoria will be pooled and granted to housing providers in Victoria who can create social and affordable housing.

Thanks to the support from property donors and partners like Development Victoria, $1.28 million has been already granted to 13 community housing projects, which will create safe and secure housing for 96 people. Over the next 30 years Homes for Homes is on track to raise $1 billion for social and affordable housing.

Development Victoria has shown great leadership in registering the entire Taylors Quarter development with Homes for Homes. We thank them for their initiative and dedication to supporting those living on the margins.
