Second funding round announced

Second funding round announced

Social and affordable housing providers in the ACT and Victoria are invited to apply for the second round of Homes for Homes funding, with up to $300,000 available in the ACT and $140,000 available in Victoria.

This launch of a second round of funding comes after the success of the opening round of Homes for Homes funding, which was dispersed to five affordable housing providers and developers in October 2018.

Homes for Homes CEO Steven Persson said the organisation will continue to take an open and flexible approach to the projects it supports.

“We are keen to fund high-impact projects and are open to all proposals from community housing providers and property developers,” Mr Persson said.

”Any organisation that can create social and affordable housing is encouraged to apply.”

Under the Homes for Homes model, money raised in each state or territory will be used to support housing projects in that state or territory.

Homes for Homes provides a way for the entire community to help solve the issue of homelessness, by raising funds through donations from property sales.

Homeowners and other property stakeholders voluntary register with Homes for Homes, agreeing to donate 0.1 per cent of their property’s sale price to the initiative at the time of sale (on a $750,000 home, that is a tax-deductible donation of $750 to Homes for Homes).

Applications close on Friday 5 July and successful applicants will be announced early 2020. More information can be found here.
